Abstract

The subject of this research is to address the psychology of the environment along the river. Due to the importance of the rivers in cities that enjoy these natural amenities, as well as the growing population and the lack of recreation centers, there is a great opportunity to create recreational and recreational centers along the Rwanda River. On the other hand, in order to achieve the desired result, we need to understand our audience and coordinate our plan with our goals, values, beliefs, expectations, memories and subjectivities. This research seeks to rebuild the margin of the Karun River located in Shoushtar city in the province of Khuzestan with the approach of environmental psychology. In this regard, improving the quality of the rivers edge is one of the objectives of the research, based on the principles of the psychology of the environment and the design of various spaces, based on the needs of the audience in the environment. In the present research, the applied method has been interpreted in a paradigm with a combined strategy (qualitative and case study). Two kinds of field and library methods have been used to supply information. In the library method, information was gathered by referring to available Persian and English sources. In the field method, direct observation and a questionnaire were used to evaluate the views of the people. SPSS software was used to analyze the findings. Attention to the attitudes of people on the other side of the river indicates a lack of feeling of privacy, independence and territory on the other side, and then there is a sense of crowding. Paying attention to this and designing spaces in such a way that a person feels more independent and comfortable has a very important role in eliminating unfavorable environmental behaviors. The lack of territory and crowding on the riverbank, which plays an essential role in peoples tourism, is a source of dissatisfaction with the users as a result of the space in question to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
