Evaluating the Effectiveness of Savasana (Yoga Relaxation) on Nurses' Mental Health and Hope
Abstract
Workplace psychological stresses affect nurses mental health and can damage their occupational functions, safety, and patients under their care. Therefore, the mental health of nurses will be important in the efficiency of the health system and the improvement of this situation can promote the quality of health care services. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Savasana (yoga relaxation) on nurses mental health and hope.
Method: This study was an experimental and randomized clinical trial. The study population was 70 female nurses working in Shahid Rahnemon Hospital. The study samples were purposefully selected from the eligible nurses. After the primary sampling, the pretest was performed. After filling the Snyder hope questionnaire and the general health questionnaire, the eligible nurses were selected and then were divided into two control and intervention groups through random allotment software based on the purpose.
Results: The results of t-student test for two independent groups before and after the intervention, and Paired-SamplesT-test for created alteration showed that nurses mental health and hope were improved at a significant level of 0.05.
Conclusion: According to the findings in this study, Savasana exercise had a positive effect on nurses mental health and hopes and improved their mental health and hope. Savasana can be used in the relevant centers as a strategy to enhance nurses hope and mental health.
